Our reception hours are flexible, we are always open between 9 and 3. If arriving outside reception hours we have a key safe for Check-in and details are emailed the day before arrival. Although rooms are fully prepaid, Motel 429 will require a credit card, or cash deposit on arrival to cover any incidental charges

Transport To And From Motel 429

From Airport

It is 21km to Motel 429 from Hobart International Airport, travelling time is 25 minutes.

Taxi’s and Sky Bus (terminates city) available outside arrivals.

If driving from the airport head into the city, across the Tasman Bridge and into Davey Street. Take the Sandy Bay Road exit and head down Sandy Bay Road. We can be found 50 metres past the Casino on the right-hand side.

Getting Around

A Metro Bus Stop is located 50 Metres from Motel 429 on Sandy Bay Road. Payment can be made onboard or Metro has a Greencard that can be purchased online. https://www.metrotas.com.au/fares/greencard/

A 24 or 48 hr pass can be purchased for the Red Decker Hop-on Hop-off City Loop. You can Hop on or off at Wrest Point Casino directly across the road.

I'm so impressed with this accommodation provided. Amidst all of the turmoil of the Covid-19 crisis, I was panicking because I'd booked several nights non-refundable rooms for myself, my partner, and my parents (two rooms). I contacted the owners and immediately got a refund on the rooms. I'm astounded with this gesture of good-will, especially considering many of the big chains are acting completely selfishly and keeping people's money. I cannot wait for all of this to be over so we can visit Tasmania and stay in an honest establishment.

Chose this motel as it was close to the Casino where we had booked for christmas Day lunch. Easy walking distance even for a not so fit person. Roo s great size, lovely to have the small lounge and dining table,. Had the room with d Stairwell by reception, great spot for the luggage. Comfortable bed, mini bar prices very reasonable, especially for water and non alcoholic drinks. the staff are friendly and and helpful the bed is very comfortable,good size tv, modern fixtures and fittings,it represents excellent value for money.

Having to stay in Hobart for a work function I booked 429 my room was quite big very comfortable bed ,nice kitchenette which had drinks in the fridge.also it is a short walk to wrest point casino for a nice afternoon drink and meal all in all great nights accomodation thanks 429

Reception staff excellent, room overlooking the bay and great view. We stayed here twice on a Tassie trip and would certainty be back in the near future. The front room is excellent and we arrived after hours and the keys were easily accessed

I stayed at Motel 429 for 3 nights. I was met by a very welcoming host who explained everything. There was ample parking and free fast WIFI. Room was huge and I was not left tripping over my luggage during my stay. Room had tea / coffee facilities, fridge and toaster which was enough for my stay. I had a lounge and table and chairs, so I wasn't left just sitting on my bed for the duration. Bed was comfortable and we had extra pillows available. Room did get a little hot with the afternoon sun, but an air conditioner was available or we could open our windows. There was a lift also, which made bringing our cases from the car to the room easier. Bathroom was adequate, with shower. Room was serviced daily. All in all a lovely, quiet location with supermarkets and restaurants nearby. Would stay again and can recommend

The motel is modern and comfortable and just across the road from Sandy Bay on the Derwent River. There is a good shopping centre at Sandy Bay with a good selection of restaurants and take away shops. Wrest Point Casino is a 5 minute walk away and the motel is just over 3 kilometres from the centre of Hobart. There is 3 bus routes that use Sandy Bay Road to and from Hobart and more from Sandy Bay shopping centre and the cost is a reasonable $3.50 for adults one way. The staff at the motel are friendly and very helpful. I would highly recommend Motel 429 to anyone staying in Hobart and doesn't need to be in the centre of the city.

This Motel sits on Sandy Road with easy car and bus access into Hobart and other local attractions. The room we stayed with a simple kitchen was large, modern and immaculate throughout. Free and easy parking added to our great experience. We could not fault any aspect of our 2 day stay here
